It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of REDC President Laurel Adams. We extend our deepest condolences to Laurel’s three sons, parents, family, and friends.

Laurel’s compassion, vision, and creativity were an inspiration during her nearly 25 years at REDC. She was a dedicated advocate for small businesses and passionate about making New Hampshire a better place to live and work for people of all backgrounds. REDC’s remarkable growth and impact over the years across all categories: businesses supported, services offered, funding sources, partners, and staff, is the direct result of Laurel’s leadership.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of Laurel. Not only was she a colleague and leader, but a wonderful friend,” stated REDC Chair Scott Zeller. “We will navigate this difficult time side by side, with compassion and care for one another.”

Laurel was recognized this year for her tremendous work when she was named Nonprofit Leader of the Year by New Hampshire Business Magazine. She received many awards previously, including the New Hampshire 200 from New Hampshire Business Magazine, the Daniel Quinlan Award for Outstanding Achievement in Community and Regional Planning, SBA Financial Services Champion, and a 40 Under 40 Recipient from the Union Leader. REDC, as an organization, has also received numerous awards under Laurel’s leadership. Beyond those accomplishments, Laurel was known for her generosity, empathy, and perseverance.

“Laurel had uncommon energy, vision, wisdom, and compassion, and she applied those attributes to causes that have made a difference in the lives of so many,” shared REDC Vice President Daniel Gray. “Laurel cared deeply for those around her and treated staff like family. Our hearts are broken. We will continue to pay tribute to Laurel’s legacy through the ongoing work of REDC.”
